An image by Aurora Photographer Christopher Herwig will be published as the cover of a new book, The Lassa Ward: One Man’s Fight Against One of the World’s Deadliest Diseases by Ross I. Donaldson, MD, MPH when it is published in May 2009.  The image, shot in 2006 and entitled Road to Bo, Sierra Leone shows “a young boy standing on the dirt road through the rainforest near the town of Mile 91 on the way to Bo from Freetown. The highway is one of the main transport routes through the country”.  The book describes the struggle of Ross Donaldson, then a medical student at the war-torn border of Sierra Leone and Liberia, as he attempts to stop the progression of the deadly Lassa Fever that has gripped the countryside.
