Images by photographer Munem Wasif of partner agency Agence VU were featured in the June 20th, 2009 edition of Guardian Weekend Magazine in London. The piece, titled “Shrimp Farming - A Sea of Tears”, documents the struggles facing shrimp farmers in the villages of south Bangladesh. Wasif visited Bangladesh with the support of Prix Pictet, which aims to communicate issues of global significance through photography, and WaterAid, who are working with the communities of Satkhira so they can access sustainable clean water technologies, sanitation and improved hygiene.
