Aurora Photographer Craig Pulsifer is in the December issue of Popular Photography! His image of two workers picking through a fresh truckload of debris searching for recyclable materials shows how they earn an honest day’s wage. These pickers, called “mangngalahig”, work in day or night shifts depending on the specifics of their municipal license. Unfortunately, pickings are slim because shrewd collection operators are employing people to ride with the collection trucks to get first dibs before the loads arrive at the landfill sites.
